The Art Nexus

Thesis
Statement
To make art more approachable to people, art should be taught in the context of daily life. The aesthetics of everyday life lie at the center of this age where people should enjoy art in everyday life as there is no boundary between art and life. Art is a daily need or expression, a form of community, a space for people, an education for everyday life, and a living experience. The current Malaysian art is young and art appreciation and enthusiasts are slowly booming in the art industry, Undoubtedly, art appreciation can be started with an improved Asian educational system and adding art into the daily used space. Besides, art galleries are not gaining popularity among Malaysians as most of them prefer to spend time on other leisure activities. Breaking down and integrating art galleries into part of daily space may help heighten public participation in art meanwhile injecting excitement into a monotonous yet structured city.
The project objectives are derived from the issues and site background which will guide the design proposal till the end. The project seeks to explore art in the context of everyday life and serve as a hub for accommodating an array of experiences of art activity that support and strengthen surrounding communities. With the idea of Integration of Place and Space, the art center creates a better psychological model of art experience for the users through an immersive environment blended with blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor through the use of spatial concepts such as courtyards, corridors, and semi-open spaces. The art center aims to enhance the awareness and appreciation of art in society, bring the community to life through healthy interaction, and lead arts into their lives by building a bridge between visitors and artworks. Hence, strengthen the bonding and integration of the community.
